Oddly awesome Japanese thing of the day – UltraMom!

Because Japanese housecleaning is superhero business! Obvs.

I love Japanese tv ads.

Watch The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Pop Culture Supercut That Debuted At Comic-Con

Winter is coming 😉

Game of Thrones is the latest show to host a panel at Comic-Con, and during it they debuted this superut of people discussing or referencing the show throughout all forms of pop culture. You’ve probably seen most of them already, since if the Internet loves anything it loves sharing clips of shows that aren’t Game of Thrones talking about Game of Thrones (guilty), but it’s still pretty cool to see so many of them rounded up in one place. As cool as the time they set a death montage from the show to Boyz II Men at Comic-Con? No, not that cool. But what is, really?

Sick possum

I’ve had the dreaded lurgy on and off for the past couple of weeks, feeling especially blergh today. I’m watching Poldark, curled up on the sofa under a blanket with the three C’s – cat, Codral, cough lollies.

Seeing this poorly possum made me smile. (My Dad has always called me ‘possum’).

Congratulations, finally!

Congratulations to Richard Armitage for finally receiving recognition for his work as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit! Well deserved and long overdue! Now we wait for Hannibal

Loving that the beard is back!

Just gonna leave this here. For reasons.

Geek Out – It’s Supanova Sydney time!

June is Supanova month in Sydney and for geek girls like me, that’s cause for ALOT of excitement.

Black Widow is bloomin' excited about Supanova! Pic: instagram.com/dansssstar

Not only is this huge fan con a supersized dream for lovers of all things cosplay, comics, gaming, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, anime, superheroes and more, it’s a chance to get up close and personal with artists whose work you’ve admired for ages – and to meet up and coming artists too. Last year i bought some fantastic artwork by young illustrators, cool handmade stuff from stores based in other states who i might not otherwise have had a chance to see, chat and get things signed by very talented and lovely artists and costume designers from New Zealand’s Weta, alongside the big name brand merch from Marvel, Image Comics and more (Yes, DC fiends, there’s stuff to cater for your needs too, but I’m a Marvel fangirl…)

The other brilliant thing about Supanova (and Oz Comic-Con, which happens later in the year) is the chance to go to exclusive Q&A sessions with everyone from big name comic book, film, tv, art, design, and cosplay stars, and you can also get your fangirl (or boy) on by getting a personal pic or something signed by a celeb you’d otherwise never get a chance to meet. It’s also really cool to find  out that they’re often just as likely to geek out over stuff as you 🙂

This year I’m excited that Graham McTavish, star of The Hobbit, Outlander (and also a guest role on one of my absolute fave tv shows, Pushing Daisies) is one of the guests this year. As a Tolkien / Hobbit / LOTR fan and through my career in the media, i’ve been very lucky to meet and chat with several of the stars of the Tolkien universe – Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, Dean O’Gorman, Stephen Hunter, Jed Brophy and Adam Brown. I’m on a dwarf hunt and counting down all the members of Thorin Oakenshield‘s company i can meet. In a totally non-creepy stalkerish way, obvs…

Aidan Turner (Kili / Poldark) was just as lovely and even more handsome than you’d expect. He called me ‘darlin’ in his lovely Irish brogue and i melted… #swoon

At some point I’ll do a post about my Hobbit encounters, but for now, wish me luck on my quest to meet Dwalin tomorrow!
